Wildlife Research and Conservation 2023 to take place in September in Berlin

This year, the annual Wildlife Research and Conservation conference (WRC2023) will take place in Berlin from 9 to 11 September 2023.
The event, organised by the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (Leibniz-IZW), the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) and WWF Germany, continues the legacy of the International Conference on Behaviour, Physiology and Genetics of Wildlife.
Experts on wildlife ecology and conservation will gather for three days of plenary sessions and a variety of group activities meant to provide networking opportunities to participants. In addition, satellite workshops on bioinformatics and structural equation modelling will be held prior to the events on 8 September.
The topics of sessions and plenary talks will cover:
- Population responses to disturbances
- Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in conservation research
- Population sustainability
- Ethical aspects in conservation research
- Conservation genetics and genomics of wildlife
- Human wildlife interactions.
As a bonus, a science slam, scheduled for the 9th of September, will provide the opportunity for researchers to present their work in a fun and creative way.
As sponsor of WRC2023, Pensoft will join the event to present its portfolio of ecological and conservation journals, as well as the Horizon-funded projects EuropaBON and REST-COAST, where the scholarly publisher and technology provider contributes with expertise in science communication, dissemination, scholarly publishing and development of digital tools and platforms. All participants will be welcome to stop by the Pensoft booth and have a chat.
To acknowledge the ongoing research and conservation efforts of participants, we will also present the Best Poster Award, gifting the winner with a free publication in an ecological journal of their choice.
